The Heat Exchanger: The Critical Barrier
Your furnace works by burning gas inside a metal chamber called the heat exchanger. The 'clean' indoor air blows over the outside of this chamber, picking up heat without ever touching the combustion gases. If the heat exchanger has even a microscopic crack—caused by years of thermal expansion and contraction—those combustion gases, including CO, can leak into your home’s air supply.

Combustion Analysis: Measuring the Invisible
